The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors announced today they have chosen John Beiers to become County Counsel upon Mike Murphy’s retirement later this month.<\/p>\n
They couldn’t have made a better choice, although I’m sure it was a tough one since they were evaluating a strong pool of candidates.<\/p>\n
I’ve known John for years, ever since I joined the Board back in December, 2001. His advice, both legal and political, has been invaluable to me in many situations.<\/p>\n
In addition to being a top-notch lawyer, he’s also a very supportive District parent who also coaches various youth sports teams in San Carlos.<\/p>\n
In fact, if there’s any fly in the ointment with this well-deserved appointment it’s that he will almost certainly have less time to devote to the District because his span of responsibility will be significantly larger. But that’s okay, the County Counsel’s office has a deep bench.<\/p>\n
So, congratulations, John!<\/p>\n
And now get back to work :).<\/p>\n
